Annette Streyl, the trained stone sculptor and former master student under Franz-Erhardt Walther, has produced a remarkable oeuvre in recent years that has been exhibited on numerous occasions. Her works revolve around everyday realms of experience, around man-made and fashioned environments. She is a pathfinder who reads and disenchants architecture and the sculptures decorating them. The artist has dealt with the themes of architecture and space since the mid 1990s. Particularly the levels of meaning and structures of architecture make up the object of her installations and sandstone sculptures. The architecture’s powerful and emblematic pictorial language and effects remain visible and comprehensible in Streyl’s works.
