A former Meisterschüler under Georg Baselitz at the UdK Berlin, Daniel Mohr (b. 1976) shows consistent artistic development in his new works, in which some paintings clearly illustrate his preoccupation with Goya and Paul Klee. Exceptional, however, is his painterly treatment of the subject and thereby his artistic interpretation. Mohr works in a style reminiscent of watercolour, which also has technical grounds; he combines water colours and oil paints. His coloration, from loose transparency all the way to opaque density, transports the paintings to a state that provokes astonishment. This makes Daniel Mohr a colourist of a very special breed. Daniel Mohr lives and works in Berlin and Barcelona.
