Jan Henderikse (*1937 in Delft) is one of the prime representatives of Dutch contemporary art. Together with the artists Kees van Bohemen, Henk Peeters, Armando and Jan Schoonhoven he founded the artist group Nul in 1959 – an art movement parallel to the German group ZERO. His assemblages, montages and serial appositions of everyday materials and objects mediate an “aesthetic of the banal“ finding an echo in the tradition of the Readymade responding to Nouveau Réalisme and Pop Art. His works have been shown in numerous international solo- and group-shows, i.a. in the major ZERO-retrospectives in New York, Berlin and at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. Today he lives and works in Antwerp and New York. In conjunction with the exhibition a catalogue is publicized at Kerber Publishers.
