Johannes Hüppi`s (*1965 Baden-Baden) figurative painting captivates the viewer with a special subtle and narrative quality that sets its framework of action in the familiar scenery of mountain ranges, woods and springs. Here, a repertoire of personage is presented that most notably stages the nude woman`s body changing her character as beloved, mother or muse. The human corpus dominates the natural environment by way of its emphatic physical presence surrounded by a mystery light and scattered requisites. The observer seems to be carried off in a enigmatic and distant world of imagination and desire. Hüppi often produces his works in series because in this manner he can illuminate a theme from various angles.

Johannes Hüppi studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, maintained studios in the United States, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, France and Corea and lectured at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig as well as at the Universidad de las Américas (UDLA) in Puebla in Mexico. His works are part of various public collections in Germany and Switzerland. In conjunction with his 50th birthday 2015 several museum exhibitions i.a. at the Museum Franz Gertsch in Burgdorf are going to be realized.
